Premier Electrical Group Donates Solar Power to Local Charity, Saving Thousands on Energy Bills and Supporting Cancer-Affected Children and Families
We are thrilled to share the details of a recent project where we donated and installed a 15kW solar panel system worth £12,000 at Daisy Lodge, a local charity that provides respite care to children and their families who have been impacted by cancer.
This solar system is expected to save the charity an estimated £3,000 per year in electricity costs over the next 20-25 years. These savings will enable Daisy Lodge to fund at least 100 one-on-one support sessions each year, providing essential care for young people and their families.
In addition to the financial benefits, the solar installation will significantly reduce the charity’s carbon footprint, cutting almost 3 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. We want to say a huge thank you to our long-standing supplier, EEL Greentech Belfast, who generously contributed £3,000 in equipment toward the installation.
The New Era of Solar Energy: Owning Your Panels and Your Roof
The popularity of solar panels has grown year on year, although, few still believe that the installation of solar panels is not of benefit to them, this is mostly down to out-of-date schemes. Early schemes offered homeowners who could not afford solar panels, the opportunity to have free solar installations, however, there were strings attached…
The roof-lease schemes were designed to make solar energy more accessible by eliminating upfront costs. Companies would install the panels for free, and in return, they would collect the subsidies and payments for the generated electricity. This scheme was marketed to homeowners primarily as a way to reduce their energy bills, but it came with a significant downside: they would no longer have ownership of their roof.
The good news is, this scheme ended in 2019! Today, homeowners have the opportunity to fully own their solar installations, ensuring complete control of the benefits.
Covering the Cost of Solar Panels
Thinking of installing solar but not sure how to cover the costs? Lucky for you, in some cases, there are grants available to help fund this worth while investment.
With the rise of energy prices, solar panels are becoming increasingly popular for homeowners and business owners: more than 1.28 million households across the UK have solar panels.

Understanding ESG and Its Business Benefits
With the escalating effects of climate change becoming ever more evident, businesses are increasingly adopting stringent Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards. These initiatives not only minimise environmental impact but also enhance a company's appeal to ethically-minded consumers.

Will My Solar Panels Generate Energy In The Winter?
If you reside in the UK or Ireland, you’ll be familiar with our grey, wet and cold weather. You may be wondering if solar panels can work in our climate, the short answer is YES! Solar Panels do work in winter, they just generate that little bit less than what they can generate in the summer.
Luckily, solar panels depend on sunlight rather than heat to produce energy, so they can continue generating electricity even on chilly winter days, provided there is daylight.
